Humming activates the Vagus Nerve! and it soothes your central nervous system. Most gentle vocalizing vibrates the bony protrusion behind the ear lobe, and underneath there, you can actually palpate and stimulate the Vagus nerve, by massaging in a gentle, slow circle. Chanting, using vibration in your toning, will reduce anxiety and drop your heart rate. The Vagus nerve controls digestion and sleep cycles, and is crucial for your brain/gut relationship. Do deep abdominal breathing and use long steady sounds, you can even make up a poem or song, with a positive message! Take a deep sigh and say “oh what a relief!”
Oil pulling, or oil swish! great to do first thing in the morning. Put a teaspoon of oil in your mouth and swish it around for 5-10 minutes. The first few times, you may not be able to keep it in your mouth long, but you get used to it. Then spit it out in the trash (not the sink, it’s oil), and I like to follow it with warm lemon water. It’s terrific for dental hygiene, because the oil pulls bacteria and plaque from teeth crevices and gums. You can use coconut (I prefer), sesame, oil, avocado oil, choose one you like, and be sure to rinse with water after spitting. So important for your heart, because excess plaque and poor gum health lead to heart problems. Now you know!
Put a slice of lemon in warm water, first thing in morning, after oil pulling. It’s great for alkalizing your body for the day. Lemon, even tho’ it is citrus, is not acid, it’s soothing for digestion. In fact, ice water is horrible for your stomach, it shuts down your digestive enzymes. Drinking lemon water regularly stabilizes your appetite, promotes healthy skin, supports weight loss, controls bloating, has Vitamin C, and helps you DRINK MORE WATER to stay hydrated! Because it tastes better than plain water. Try it, you’ll like it!
Salt Water Flush for ENT = Ears Nose Throat. Clearing out your nose and throat often opens up the ears*. We come from the ocean, are 60-80% water, and our mucus membrane pH is harmonious with saline. Use store bought Saline for eyes, and nose spray, (as shown) instead of a netti pot or mixing your own salt, it’s safer, more hygienic, cheap and convenient. Flushing out the Body’s “entrances” keep opportunistic disease from taking hold, trigger lymph node activity, and mobilize the immune system. Great for flu prevention, travel, allergies, irritation. *If needed, get your ears done by a Doctor, do not use ear candles!
I love my herbs and vitamin supplements! Each person is different and should customize their regime by checking with a nutritionist, herbalist, acupuncturist, homeopathic doctor, etc, to evaluate their health status. Taking hair or blood tests can reveal important factors in your levels to consider, for your diet as well as for supplements. Vitamin C, great for your immunity! is recommended as generally safe for everyone. In crisis, take 1000mg every 4 hours. But slow down taking it if you begin to have loose bowels. I like the chewable kind, easy to pop in your mouth a few times a day! P.S. try Elderberry + Zinc for added immune support.
